This Favre-Leuba Bivouac 9000 features a mechanical hand-wound movement but most importantly and uniquely for a mechanical watch, an altemeter measuring up to 9000 metres displayed on the red hands.
This is not so much a watch as a piece of professional mountaineering equipment. The altemeter works through changes in barometric pressure so it can also be used as a weather indicator. Very useful for hillwalkers, skiers and climbers alike. Although the case is quite large at 48mm being made of titanium it is relatively light.
On the dial, the red sweep hand measures 3,000 meters in one revolution. After which the subdial at 3 O'Clock indicates 3 and the next revolution takes it to 6 and the final revolution to 9000 metres.
This watch is brand new, and has never been worn. The reason it is being offered at this price and not the MRSP of £6,900 is because it has been used as a display model for show and demonstrations.
